Introduction

Kidappolis is a mobile platform designed to support school readiness for early learners.  Kidappolis is owned and operated by Raising a Reader Inc.  We are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information, and we have provided this policy to inform our users (“you,” “your”) of the types of information we collect, and the ways in which we will use, disclose and protect it.  This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and part of our Terms of Service.By accessing or using kidappolis, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.  

Kidappolis operates from the United States.  If you are located outside the United States, the information you provide to us is transmitted and processed in the United States, and will be protected subject to this Privacy Policy and applicable laws, which may not be as protective as the laws in your country.  By using kidappolis, you agree to this.

Information You Provide.  When you decide to use kidappolis, you must log in using your phone number, Apple ID, or your Facebook account credentials.  From your Facebook credential, we collect your email address or phone number.  We will also ask you to provide your child’s first name and date of birth.  We use this information to create your account and the account for your child.

Information Children Provide.  Once you have created your child’s account, we will ask you to have your child answer a select number of skill-based questions.  We combine this information with the information you provided when you created your account, and we use it to create a recommended lesson plan for your child.  In some cases, the lesson plan will consist of optional third party apps that have been selected by kidappolis for your child based on their skill level.

If your the child or adult is accessing kidappolis or any of the optional third party apps from an Android device, we will track the time spent on each such whitelisted app.  We do this by accessing data reports available from Google to Android developers. We will not condition a child’s participation in kidappolis on collection of more information than is necessary to provide kidappolis.  If you are the parent of a kidappolis user and would like to review the personal information that we have collected from your child, request that it be deleted or refuse to permit its further use, please send your request to hello@raisingareader.org

Please note that we may take reasonable steps necessary to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

Information We Collect Automatically. When you and your child use kidappolis, our servers automatically record information sent from your browser (“Log Data”).  Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device ID, geolocation sufficient to identify your zip code, browser type, machine model, pages of kidappolis that you visit, the referring URL, and access times and dates.  We use this information to monitor, analyze use of and administer kidappolis, and to better tailor it to your needs.

To collect this information, we use certain technologies including:

Cookies.  A cookie is a small data file sent from a website or application and stored on your computer or device.   You can set your browser to detect some cookies, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie. To learn more about browser cookies, including how to manage or delete them, look in the Tools, Help or similar section of your web browser, or visit allaboutcookies.org.  

We use third party service providers, including Google Analytics and Mixpanel to assist us in collecting and understanding Log Data.  Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.  You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting information about you and recognizing you on return visits to our Platform by disabling cookies on your browser.  

Android Tracking.  As described above, if you or your child uses kidappolis on an Android device, kidappolis will also collect a list of all whitelisted apps on the device, as well as the time spent on each such app.  We do this by accessing data reports available from Google to Android developers.  

By using the Platform, you agree to our use of these tracking technologies.

We may de-identify information in accordance with applicable law, and we may use de-identified information, including aggregated, de-identified data for a variety of purposes subject to applicable law, including to demonstrate the effectiveness of kidappolis, including in our marketing materials; to develop and improve our educational products and for customized and adaptive learning.

Third Parties.  We may work with third-party companies and individuals to help us deliver Kidappolis and to provide certain features.  This includes database hosting and management, analytics,, web analytics, and product improvement. All of our third-party providers may only access and use the data in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Links. Kidappolis may include links to kidappolis.com, - raisingareader.org and educational websites that we believe may be of interest.  Any links that are not owned by Raising A Reader are provided for your convenience, and inclusion of links does not suggest an endorsement.  We are not responsible for the contents or transmission of any linked site or for ensuring that the linked sites are error and virus free.  Linked sites are subject to their own terms of use and privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.

How You Can Access and Modify Your Information. If you would like to review, correct, update or request that we delete personal information you or your child have provided to us, you may do so by editing and/or deleting their information in the app settings.

Text Messaging

Kidappolis Login Verification Program

  1. Program Description: The Kidappolis Login Verification Program sends a one-time passcode to end users to facilitate a secure login process for the Kidappolis app. When you attempt to log in to the app, you will receive a one-time SMS code that verifies your identity. Please be assured, your phone number will not be used for any marketing purposes.
  2. Opting Out: As this service is designed to send one-time passcodes, you will not receive unsolicited messages after the login process. If you receive any messages without requesting a code or wish to report an unexpected message, please contact us immediately at hello@raisingareader.org for support.
  3. Customer Support: If you encounter any issues or have questions about the Kidappolis login verification process, please send a text with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or directly contact our support team at hello@raisingareader.org. We are here to assist you.
  4. Carrier Disclaimer: Please be aware that mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  5. Message and Data Rates: Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to or received from us. For any questions regarding your text or data plan, please contact your wireless provider directly.
  6. Privacy Policy: Your privacy is important to us. To understand how we handle your information and maintain your privacy, please visit our privacy policy.

Data Retention.  You may also delete your Data and account at any time by clicking on the Delete Your Account link in your Settings page of the app. If you delete your Data, your profile, including your children’s personal information, exercise results, and app usage, and you will no longer be able to access such Data. We will not be able to restore your account once it has been deleted. Deletion of your account may not be immediate. Residual copies of your PII or posts may remain on backup media for a short period of time thereafter. Additionally, we may store certain Data that is not PII, i.e. does not directly identify you, in our internal systems. We may also retain Data as required by applicable law and we will not delete any Data that is not PII, i.e., has already been anonymized.

Security. We use commercially reasonable security precautions intended to protect against unauthorized access your data.  We store data in third party cloud-based environments called Digital Ocean that use a combination of physical, administrative and technical safeguards in an effort to prevent access from outside intruders.  We also encrypt the data in transit and limit data access.  Not all security risks are reasonably foreseeable, however, and kidappolis is not responsible for the consequences of security incidents that are not reasonably foreseeable and not reasonably within its control.

Updates To This Privacy Policy.  We may change this Privacy Policy in the future.  When we do, we will post a notice within kidappolis and provide other notifications as required by law. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you via the email address we have in our records, and request your consent before the changes are implemented.  Non-material changes will become effective when posted in kidappolis.  The “last updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when the Policy was last revised.
